Investigative campaigning organisation Global Witness is adding further wealth of new experience to its board of non-executive directors in 2025 by welcoming a new board member.
Joining the organisation’s board with immediate effect is seasoned human rights practitioner and social change strategist Sushma Raman.

Bio
Currently serving as the interim Executive Director of Greenpeace USA, Sushma Raman served as Executive Director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy (now the Carr-Ryan Center) at Harvard Kennedy School from 2015 to February 2023, where she helped launch programs on technology and human rights, democracy in the United States, racial justice, and a range of innovative research and fellowship programs.
Sushma has worked as a Program Officer at the Ford and Open Society Foundations and has served on numerous boards and advisory boards. Sushma is the co-author of two books, Holding Together: The Hijacking of Rights in America and How to Reclaim Them for Everyone (New Press, 2022) and The Coming Good Society: Why New Realities Demand New Rights (Harvard University Press, 2020).
