Our brand refresh isn’t merely cosmetic. It seeks to strengthen our identity, campaigning and fundraising, reinforce our values, and engage the public in our mission – to build the power of people fighting to dismantle the influence of climate-wrecking industries.

For over 30 years, Global Witness has exposed the powerful industries profiting from environmental destruction, standing with the people who defend their land, rights and communities.

Our investigations have changed laws, shifted corporate behaviour, and even inspired a Hollywood film. But the threats we expose today remain just as real, affecting communities across the world.

Originally set up to tackle corruption, our work has evolved as the climate crisis continues to deepen into one of the most urgent global challenges we face. Exposing how industries profit from this crisis, and building the power of those most affected, are central to the work we now do.

As our focus shifted, it became clear that our identity needed to evolve too – and we worked with our closest partners and allies to make sure that the results would strengthen the work we collectively do.

Why now?

The climate crisis is escalating, and industries that profit from environmental destruction are pushing us closer to the brink. Global Witness has always played a crucial role in exposing these forces, but our visual identity no longer reflected the primary focus of our work or the urgency of our mission.

This urgency has never been clearer than in 2025, with the climate crisis wreaking havoc all over the world and global leaders derailing climate action. This year COP30 must deliver something effective and lasting.

We knew we needed a brand that captured the gravity of this work and our ambitions – and one that allows us to connect with new audiences, while staying grounded in the stories of the communities we stand alongside.

The power of listening

Throughout this process, we’ve worked closely with our partners around the world, including Indigenous people, young climate activists, journalists, civil society partners and funders.

They reviewed our new identity at key milestones throughout the project and their insights have shaped how we think about everything from storytelling and our logo to colours and languages.

Involving our partners was especially important to us. Their lived experiences and stories reinforced why the work we collectively do matters – and why we’re stronger when we campaign together.

Centring truth

At the core of our new identity is the idea of ”seeing and speaking truth.” This reflects the heart of our work, which is to uncover hidden systems of power and profit and make sure those truths are heard at the highest levels. Our new logo – a combination of an eye and a megaphone – represents Global Witness’ dual purpose as investigators and campaigners.

Last year, our undercover investigation at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, captured global headlines. We exposed how fossil fuel deals were being promoted behind-the-scenes of what is supposedly a process dedicated to tackling the climate crisis.

It was a stark reminder of the urgency and importance of this work. Ensuring these investigations reach the right people and have real impact means presenting them with clarity and power. Our new brand gives us the tools to do that more effectively.

Our revamped website is also designed to be easier to navigate and more accessible, while maintaining the depth and rigour that defines Global Witness. We know this is a vital tool for journalists, partners and supporters to find out about our investigations and understand the complex issues we tackle.

Our commitment remains as strong as ever: to stand with the people in the fight to change the system and expose the industries profiting from our planetary crisis. Our new identity reflects this determination – but most importantly centres those people who live with the consequences of climate breakdown every day.
